(3rd) After the film, I nipped across the road to the Irish pub (Strawberry Tree) to try a south Kiwi Guinness. Poured by a Welshman, it was dire. Something comparable to a Mongolian Guinness.
Playing some Uno with Katie and Julia in the bar then, joined by Matt and Rob from Chicago. Super 7s were on television, Scotland annihilating Japan. Seven a side, seven minutes a half, it's fast paced, high scoring crowd-friendly rugby. The bar started a karaoke session, and one of the locals insisted on singing. Even for a tone deaf pleb like me, she was atrocious. Katie got up and sang some Guns 'n' Roses instead, sounding pretty good. However, the woman returned immediately afterwards, so I was pressured into doing a song. Chose the Craggy Island national anthem, Ghost Town. Tactical choice too - lots of instrumental bits. Also tried to fix Whales' 3G modem, unsuccessfully.
